An Indian Designer Perhaps January 30, 2009

Since I didn’t have much luck finding American designers that Freida could wear to the Oscars (latest collections ofcourse), I perused some of the past Indian fashion shows for potential gowns. After all, why not showcase our Indian talent too, if not in a saree, then in a Oscar-worthy gown. Alas, I wasn’t able to find much there either. I only found a gunmetal grey gown by Nalandda Bhandari, a pink confection from Khushali Kumar, a gold slinky number from Namrata Joshipura, and a blue number from Swapnil Shinde. 

   

Do you prefer to see Freida in a gown by an Indian designer or an American one?

Hmm…I think not! I don’t think Priyanka and Harman will usurp the throne from fashionable duo Akshay and Twinkle any time soon, fashion-wise that is. Although, both are looking cleaned up and spiffy at the ‘Victory’ movie premiere. Priyanka could have punched up her outfit a bit with a Kenneth Jay Lane statement necklace like the one below or like the Chanel one that actress Olga Kurylenko is wearing below.

WWGD? January 30, 2009

Maybe it’s the recession but I wasn’t too impressed nor found much to like in the Spring 2009 Couture collections. Of the little I found, it made me wonder ‘What Would George Do’? As in George Kotsiopoulos, Freida’s stylist in LA. What would he put Freida in for the Oscars?? A strapless sheath from Armani Prive, a pink tulle confection from Christopher Josse, frothy numbers from Elie Saab or an elaborate creation from Georges Chakra? See, I told you I didn’t find much to my liking from the collections but I’m sure that George will have better luck next month.

Reader Request – Deepika January 30, 2009

After a spate of awful, awful choices for the ‘CC2C’ circuit, Deepika chose to go simple in a white saree at the ‘Sa Re Ga Ma Finale’. Thank goodness! The saree looks great on her and shows off her slim figure, but why the dull, dead expression on her face?
