It doesn’t get better than this, i.e., chumming it up with Jean Paul Gaultier at his Spring 2012 Couture show.  While she wore a saree and shrug yesterday, today she Sonam opted for a pant-suit sans blouse but with collar.  It’s um, interesting but not as interesting as what she had on yesterday.  You like this or yesterday’s look better?  Again, not to sway your opinion, but she’s also receiving rave reviews over the pond.

While some wore sarees, these ladies opted for gowns at the Apsara Awards.  All three looks were almost perfect.  I say ‘almost’ because there was invariably something wrong, only a slight change here or there that could have elevated these looks to a perfect 10.  For example, Sridevi‘s Elie Saab gown might have looked better in another color and the asymmetrical bustline makes her look lopsided.  As for Sophie’s red gown, it was slightly tarnished by the black heels as my eyes automatically go towards the shoes rather than focusing on the lovely dress.  Kareena’s Paule Ka dress is lovely on her but is it me, or does she look a tad uncomfortable?

These ladies all wore their best sarees to the Apsara Awards and with the exception of the blouse styles, all looked good in my opinion.

Front and center at the Elie Saab Spring 2012 Couture Week was Bollywood’s darling, Sonam.  Now I’m on the fence here as to whether this saree/fusion mix was the right thing to wear at a major fashion show.  One the one hand, she stands out like a sore thumb and on the other hand, she stands out.  What’s your opinion about it?  Not to sway your vote one way or the other but it looks like the New York Times liked her look.

Speaking of Elie Saab, yes, his dresses are pretty much all the same season after season.  But if I had a million bucks to blow, I’d buy them. Every. Single. One. of. Them.

Most of our shopping will be done in India once I get there but since we are Catholic, we did have to order bridesmaid gowns from here.  I’m going to be her matron of honor (I’m an old married maid now I guess, yuck) along with her other bridesmaids.  So thought I’d give you guys a sneak peek of my dress, chosen my sister dearest.  I’m in love with it, especially since it camoflages the tummy area that still hasn’t gone back to pre-pregnancy form (and probably never will, sigh!).

So this is my dress, ordered and to be delivered in about 8 weeks (I’m hoping I’ll have magically lost more weight by then).  Although the color shown here is bronze, my sister chose a coral color.  Can’t wait to see it!  The rest of the bridesmaids are wearing the style in black (on the right), but also in a coral color.
